We’ve already made it easy to take credit and debit card payments from your mobile with no extra hardware. But what about when you’re not with your customer? Also if a customer calls you while you’re at the office, what can you do then?
If you have a standard iPhone credit card reader, you’re in trouble; you’d have to get the customer to come to your office or you’d have to go back to the job site. Or, at the very least, you’d have to pay an extra fee.
We don’t think that’s right.
So we made it easier and simpler to take a credit card payment over the phone. With the SmartTrade online dashboard, all you have to do is sign in, click the big orange ‘Take Card Payment‘ button on the navigation, add a title an amount and ask for the customers card details;
Or to create a proper invoice go to the Jobs section, click ‘Create New Job‘, then ‘Add Costs’, then click the green ‘Get Paid‘ button and take the card details and process the payment;
That’s all there is to it!
What can you do with this newfound power?
You could take a down payment or a deposit before you start the job. Or take a payment after you finish if the customer wasn’t at home. You could allow customers to pre-pay for parts or labor and give them a discount in their overall bill.
If you have a partner or an admin assistant, you could even have them take payments over the phone while you’re on the road, further increasing your efficiency and helping you make more money.
